Summary

Jack and Sally are "truly meant to be" 。。。 or are they?

Sally Skellington is the official, newly-minted Pumpkin Queen after a whirlwind courtship with her true love, Jack, who Sally adores with every inch of her fabric seams -- if only she could say the same for her new role as Queen of Halloween Town。 Cast into the spotlight and tasked with all sorts of queenly duties, Sally can't help but wonder if all she's done is trade her captivity under Dr。 FInkelstein for a different -- albeit gilded -- cage。 But when Sally and Zero accidentally uncover a long-hidden doorway to an ancient realm called Dream Town in the forest Hinterlands, she'll unknowingly set into motion a chain of sinister events that put her future as Pumpkin Queen, and the future of Halloween Town itself, into jeopardy。 Can Sally discover what it means to be true to herself and save the town she's learned to call home, or will her future turn into her worst。。。 well, nightmare

So instead of "something's wrong with Jack," it's "something's wrong with Sally," huh? So instead of "something's wrong with Jack," it's "something's wrong with Sally," huh? 。。。more

The first time I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas, I was 10 years old。 A friend of mine brought his VHS copy over to my house and we had to watch it in my sister's room - the only room that had a VCR at the time。 I still remember the awe I felt watching that movie for the first time, the scary delights that awaited us in that low resolution screen。 I fell in love immediately。 It was one of the great wonders of my childhood, a wonder I got to revisit thanks to this book。 Author Shea Ernshaw The first time I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas, I was 10 years old。 A friend of mine brought his VHS copy over to my house and we had to watch it in my sister's room - the only room that had a VCR at the time。 I still remember the awe I felt watching that movie for the first time, the scary delights that awaited us in that low resolution screen。 I fell in love immediately。 It was one of the great wonders of my childhood, a wonder I got to revisit thanks to this book。 Author Shea Ernshaw perfectly captures the tone of the setting, the voice of the characters。 I could easily imagine the events of this story happening in the stop-motion style of the movie。 I was so enraptured by Sally's fight to save her town I had to struggle to put the book down and sleep。 The expansion of the world Tim Burton created was absolutely fascinating! I could see this spawning multiple sequels, although this stands perfectly by itself as well。 For lovers of all things Tim Burton, specifically The Nightmare Before Christmas, I highly recommend this book。 Long Live the Pumpkin Queen will easily go down as one of the best sequels in literary history! 。。。more

This was a really cute book。 It did take until about half way through the book though until I really got into it。 It would make a cute movie (which it most likely will become lol)。

I really enjoyed this book。 In my opinion the author did a wonderful job telling Sallys story。 I would definitely read this book again。 😊

3。5 stars rounded up。 Was not what I hoped it would be。 I really love this author though, I think it couldn’t have been written by anyone else。

I really enjoyed this book! I like that we are able to know more about Sally’s character。 It is up to her to save her town and I love how she manages! I love her loyalty to Jack and her role as his Queen。 I’d say 4/5 stars just because it felt a little aimed towards a younger audience, that may be because it’s through Disney。 The author did a great job!

With that being said, I will say that being able to explore the other holiday doors was very enjoyable and was a major plus with being included into the book。 。。。more

fun quick book, really gave sally a story line of assuming her role as pumpkin queen and the ending slayed, just enough romance between her and jack

Well that was way better than it had any right to be! Sally comes into her own as the Pumpkin Queen, a huge adjustment for a shy and quiet woman who just wants life to stay the same。 The novel starts with her wedding to Jack and her huge culture shock at being forced into a "Queen" role, when all she wants to do is live her old, quiet life。 But then shit goes down and she learns stuff and goes places and does things 。。。 don't want to spoil anything。 But it's well written and full of delightfully Well that was way better than it had any right to be! A charming story which highlights a female heroine and will delight children of all ages 。

Is it the NMBC, no。 But was it good, yes! I enjoyed Shea and her writing and hope that one day there is a story where jack and sally are traveling through the realms and solving problems and truly living out the life I always dreamed they had。

I love this book in so many different ways。 I love the word choices, characterization, and overall plot。 A perfect book for spooky season。

A lovely retelling。 Although it has been at least a year since I last watched "A Nightmare Before Christmas", I could really hear the characters voices in my head as I read this。 I'm honestly not sure that Shae Ernshaw can go wrong when it comes to magical realism。 You might even say she is the Queen of it ;) And now I sit back and HOPE that Tim Burton turns this continuation of his story into its own movie。 A lovely retelling。 Although it has been at least a year since I last watched "A Nightmare Before Christmas", I could really hear the characters voices in my head as I read this。 I'm honestly not sure that Shae Ernshaw can go wrong when it comes to magical realism。 You might even say she is the Queen of it ;) And now I sit back and HOPE that Tim Burton turns this continuation of his story into its own movie。 。。。more

Also, I definitely think Sally accepted being the Pumpkin Queen way too quickly; she was totally pulling her hair out worrying about it at the beginning of the book, but after a few days of trauma, she’s ready to take on the role? While it was a believable addition to the story at least, I also can’t say I was a fan of the reveal of Sally’s parents; in my opinion, I feel like her character is stronger knowing that she was made by Finklestein, an abusive father figure, and rebelling against him and coming into her own rather than discovering a long-lost perfect, happy mommy and daddy。 And while I definitely liked Sally venturing into the other holiday worlds, it was super brief and I would’ve liked a bit more in that regard。Overall, not a bad story at all。 I can definitely see it as a cute, short animated sequel to the first movie, that doesn’t quite live up to the original but is at least entertaining。 I’m glad I read it but I probably won’t read it again。 。。。more

Ugh…I wanted to like this book so sooo bad, but it was so hard to get through。 The strong Sally from TNBC who fought everyday to become independent of Dr。 Finkelstein was nonexistent in this book。 This Sally was whiny, always crying, and always on the edge of giving up。 I gave it 2 stars, 1 because I loved the few scenes including Jack, & the second ⭐️ for Zero…All in all, don’t waste your time。

I got this book the day it came out! My cousin and I read it together。 A chapter a day。 Though sometimes it was so good, we couldn't stop at one chapter。 I really like how easy this was to read and how vivid the story was。 There were many twists in the story, and I never knew what to expect next。 I also related a lot to Sally in this book。 She is definitely one of my favorite characters。 Reading the book also gave me an excuse to watch Nightmare Before Christmas again haha。 It's one of my favori I got this book the day it came out! So cute ! Really, I was entertained from start to finish ! I will say there may have been a tad bit too many ideas floating around - too many chefs in the kitchen if you will。 But quite a few of them would actually make for some solid movie-sequel plot points! I do wish we could have had some mention of Oogie Boogie ! How are you gonna create a whole Dream Town and NOT mention the boogeyman ? I digress, this was exactly why it needed to be。 Get your hands on it if you’re a fan !

I loved Nightmare Before Christmas growing up, so I was excited when I saw this book was coming out。 I think it is fun。 I don’t think that I need it。 It was nice to see Sally find out where in the holiday worlds she fits in now that she is the queen of Halloween。 It was interesting to see how the different worlds are portrayed。 It is well written。 It just wasn’t quite what I as an adult was looking for。 I enjoyed it but don’t think I’d reread it。 Overall: 3/5 。。。more

This is so cute。Read it in a day。In the beginning, I thought Sally was nagging a bit too much about being a queen。But then, the story turned and it swept me up。 I could not put it down。

Such an amazing book。 As a huge fan of NBC I was nervous I wouldn’t like this book because I was scared the continuing of the story would somehow ruin the original, it did not。 Its the cutest story, easy to read, very imaginative and was also written with the same tone of movie making it easy not to question the continuation。 Must read for NBC fans!

Please read this enchanting book!!

Absolutely loved it。 I’m a huge NBC fan and it was nice to have something from Sally’s POV

This was one book that seemed impossible to put down。 One more chapter leads to reading almost 100 more pages。 The idea of the story line is heart warming and something every one can connect with to a point。 This would make an awesome movie!

I always loved watching 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' each Halloween, so when I saw that there was going to be a book with Sally, I HAD to get it and it did not disappoint。 I thought it was a fantastic look at all the other holiday trees and even trees I did not know would exist。 I love that it developed Sally as more than a rag doll and we found more layers in her character。 There's so many revelations in this book and I don't wanna spoil it, but it was a quick read and if you're a fan of th I always loved watching 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' each Halloween, so when I saw that there was going to be a book with Sally, I HAD to get it and it did not disappoint。 I thought it was a fantastic look at all the other holiday trees and even trees I did not know would exist。 I love that it developed Sally as more than a rag doll and we found more layers in her character。 There's so many revelations in this book and I don't wanna spoil it, but it was a quick read and if you're a fan of the movie and looking for a quick read, read this! 。。。more
